I played singles in the Vancouver Tennis Tournament this weekend and lost out in the second round to a “Lob God”. His only shot consisted of either a forehand or backhand “chip” perfectly placed in the back of the court. Usually, I just get mad at myself during a match, but I actually was feeling mad at my opponent who was turning the match into something other than tennis. I don’t know what we were playing.
I played mixed doubles with Lori tonight in our last summer league match and we won 8-1. I can’t believe fall is just around the corner… the summer just flew by. Anyway, our team ended up being tied 3-3 at the end of match play so Lori and I played in the super-tiebreaker and choked and lost after having a match point. Afterward, she distributed her special lemonade to help ease the sting of defeat.
Nick and I toasted some empty “winner’s glasses” after we won our final match of the Vancouver Grand Slam tournament over the weekend. I probably could’ve used some water in my glass since I got really dehydrated and my legs cramped up pretty bad. Good thing Nick came through and pulled us to victory.
The last six months of USTA men’s tennis league ended well tonight… we played in the Northern Oregon Championship Finals and pulled out a 3-2 win! Now we advance to sectionals in August against other Pacific Northwest champions from Alaska, Idaho, Washington, and British Columbia. Nick and I won our doubles match 7-6, 6-3.
